Why is this here?

Why does this blog exist? Well that is a good question. As far back as I can remember I have had hobbies and interest but none have stuck with me quite like Video Games have. It is really funny. Growing up it wasn't the cool thing to do but I had several core groups of friends that tolerated my passion and even extorted it. Many would have me beat a level or find some secret that they were looking for. Many used me for cheat codes that I would get out of Nintendo Power, Tips and Tricks , Gamepro and other such magazines that I would pick up at the Supermarket. My bad handwriting made it just that much exciting to get the codes to work. This was way before the internet was so mainstream in fact I think the first time I ever used the net was several years later sometime in the early 90's over at my friend Jonathan's house.

I started with an NES that I bought off my older brother; he was always thrifty that way. I think my favorite game was Pinball Quest. A few years later I bought a Super Nintendo from a pawn shop. I still remember playing Super Mario World and 100% that game. And who could forget Super Mario Kart. I went 100 wins to 1 lose one night against my friend, his brother and sister. A Gameboy found me thanks to my oldest brother digging out a demo unit from a dumpster that a department store that was going out of business that he worked at. He asked if he could have it and they said yes. Favorite game from Gameboy I think it was called Donkey Kong '96? I think a Sega Game Gear came next. I always wanted that TV adaptor but I never got it. Jurassic Park and NBA Jam is what stole most of my time there. I got a Virtual boy too. It was another self purchase I believe for $25 from Wal-mart and I think the games were under $10. I don’t care what anyone said it was a great experience. Yes you would get headaches and the thing wasn’t the most comfortable but I made it work. I laid on my back and propped the system on my face and chest. Wario and Mario Tennis were great. Then came the Nintendo 64 at around launch for my Birthday. Wow those were some good times. 4 player matches of Goldeneye 007 64 that would last all night. I think my record was 14 hours straight. And I can’t forget the Mario Kart 64 and Super Smash Brothers matches and other countless games either. I got heavy into PC gaming (Tribes was my main squeeze) over the next few years so it wasn't until I was married in 2003 that I bought my first non-Nintendo system, a PS2. We bought it on our honeymoon to watch some DVD's and play some Spyro the Dragon for my wife and some Twisted Metal Black for me. I know some wild honeymoon huh? My wife really didn’t like the "dark" mood of black. It was kinda creepy. I think either the next year or the year after that my wife got me a GameCube with Mario Party 7 for Christmas. That was a ton of fun with our newlywed friends. We then got Nintendo DS Lites, a white one for me and a pink one for my wife. We really didn’t play that many games together. My wife enjoyed her puzzle games and I enjoyed my ...... everything else games. On a whim I decided to get a Wii. I had no idea how hard it would be to get one. After one time standing out in line and being next to the person who didn’t get one I made sure I would use the internet to track down when shipments would come. I have one game for one to get with this system if you get nothing else other than Wii Sports, Boom Blox or Boom Blox Bash Party. It is a great game for all ages and skill levels. I believe it was around this time I discovered my favorite blog ever at www.gonintendo.com . I highly recommend you check it out if you haven't before. Raw Meat Cowboy runs a great blog for Nintendo and Nintendo related news. The Gonintendo podcast is a never miss for me. I love the Nintendo game music quiz they do every week. He also inspired me to do this blog. Speaking of which man did I get off topic but I might as well finish my history of gaming first. At this time I also switched jobs and met a lot of people who enjoyed gaming of all ages. I put my love of games into socializing with my new co-workers. Letting them borrow games and helping them track down a Nintendo Wii for sale. I traded my White DS Lite in sadly, but it was for a Nintendo DSi system. It was well worth the trade. Next on the horizon is a Nintendo 3DS and yes if you know me you can come play mine before you buy. I always like helping people try before they buy. That should wrap up a very long but briefly listed history of my gaming. I am sure I left out something but let’s get back on track.

Ok now that my rant is over let’s get to why I made this blog. I love playing Video Games but sadly getting out of school and getting married has put a damper on my all day play sessions. That and let’s face it you used to have a couple of good games come out a year and now they are Monthly or weekly. That and I am stuck playing PC games with some of the same guys from Battlefield 2. I spend most of my time on PC then on console due to the online community. Right now it is Battlefield Bad Company 2 which I put a ridiculous amount of time getting all the pins and insignias. This has lead to a huge embarrassing backlog for me. I got fed up with it and decided I could do a blog about going back and either finishing games or unwrapping them from the shrink wrap when I bought them on that buy 2 get 1 free sale three years ago at Toys R Us for example. I hear all the time on many podcast I listen to about their backlogs and I like it when they go back and play them. Radio Free Nintendo at http://nintendoworldreport.com/ does a vote every so often and they pick a game for the podcast crew and listeners to go back and play an older title and discuss it. This is kinda what I am hoping to do. I hope people will like looking at the games I am going back to play and they will be encouraged to do the same and post about their memories playing these games. I am not a good writer by any means but hey I don't need to be this is a blog not the New York Times. I hope to find a way to get a pole up or just list some and get some votes of a game you want me to finish from my backlog. First up will be Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition for Wii. Hope to hear from you soon.
