Zelda Timeline: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

  • Finished The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time last month. This (on Nintendo 64) was my first real Zelda game. I had played the original on NES but I was pretty young and my brother/cousins were playing it. The 3D remake is fantastic and brought back good memories. I picked up this 3D remake while my son was in the hospital for two weeks in 2011. This game really helped take the stress and worry away. I played it up to about the Spirit Temple when I let a coworker borrow it. After he was done another wanted to borrow it and he had it up until the time he sold his 3DS. I didnt ply it for awhile and then a friend wanted to borrow it and he took it with him on a business trip. During this trip sadly his 3DS and my game was stolen. I wasn't aware of this until one day he told me. He was worried I would be upset since my save file on the game was when my son was in the hospital. I told him I wish I still had the game but I was more sad that his 3DS got stolen. It took awhile but he replaced it with what I hope was a modestly priced used copy. This of course was right before the game was bumped to the Nintendo Selects at $19.99. After I finished Four Swords I was ready to restart OoT. The game was as fun as every though I think my memory of twilight princess was confusing me of what to do next. This game was more straight forward and I did not have to reference a guide nearly as much as I did for Minish Cap or Four Swords. The only part I needed help with that I can recall was the shadow/spirit temple getting started with the lens of truth. Even though I beat the game on Nintendo 64 I remembered next to nothing about these dungeons. The water temple was much easier thanks to the remake even though I beat it original before having the internet to use a guide. The final fight with Ganondorf was much easier than I remember it being. It was much easier than the final fight at the end of Skyward Sword. I used to say that OoT was my favorite but as I am finding out during my Zelda timeline play through this is not the case anymore. For the moment Skyward Sword is taking that spot. This game will always hold a special place in my gaming memories as it was my first real Zelda game and my first 3D RPG. Got any questions or have something you want to add? Please comment below.
