I'm still around..... Let's play Metroid Fusion

Hey everybody. Been a while since I have posted. sorry about that. My wife and I are still working through Super Mario Bros All-stars and it is taking much longer than expected. We have also been playing Skylander: Spyro's Adventure, Mario Kart 7, and Super Mario 3D Land.

Right now my friends and I are working through some GBA games on our 3DS. We took a vote and Metroid Fusion won. We are taking two weeks to play through as much of the game as we have time for and then discuss it. I am currently on Sector 4 and fighting what I am guessing is the boss although it seems awful quick. The 3ds activity meter has me in for 3 hours and 17 minutes and the game's save file is 2 hours and 8 minutes. I have 4 energy tanks and I think 55 missiles. Let's not discuss too much details right now but I just want to get a feel for how far you have got. We can discuss more 3/24.

  1. I'm a couple of hours in right now. I'm liking the game so far, especially the ledge grabbing and navigation rooms that keep you pointed in the right direction. I never actually beat the original Metroid or any others in the series, but I've sampled Super Metroid and Other M.

I'm struggling with the gap between save points and picking up important items only to lose them on death. The frame rate is also slightly lower compared to Super Metroid, but this is to be expected on the platform. I tried playing GBA Aria of Sorrow the other day and the frame rate was way lower. I'm looking forward to getting some more time in and hopefully not dying as much so I can string together a few save points.

  2. I'm kinda stuck in zone 4, but other than that the game is going really well. It moves along quick enough to keep me interested. One thing i noticed is that the first two boss fights were fairly easy. While the third seemed way more difficult. Once i figured out all i had to do was find a safe spot and then just wait and take my shots when the opening presented itself, i was amused at how easy the boss became. I have to say so far i am pretty happy with the game. Its graphics are fairly decent for the time it was released. The story line is a little choppy, but not so bad i wouldn't play it. Mainly because metroid games have always been about the puzzles, neat weapons, and of course shooting nasty aliens that are evil and must be punished.
